Let me be the first to welcome you to the Calculus I blog for MTH 151 at Miami University. I got the idea for this writing project from the Math 152 Weblog. The goal of this project is to expose you to mathematics outside the classroom and to increase your awareness of the subject of calculus. Writing mathematical articles is more difficult than writing for history or english class, so by encouraging you to write on topics you personally find interesting I hope you will get more out of this project than just a few extra points.
Your goal as a student in this class is to maintain this blog throughout the semester. Your main audience is the casual internet surfer, possibly with no mathematics background. Although you will be assigned specific topics to write about, you are encouraged to leave comments on other student’s articles and to contribute in any way possible.
